This Privacy Policy explains what information Pips Hint ("we", "us") collects when you use pipshint.wiki (the "Site"), why we collect it, and what choices you have.

This page is provided in English only. If we offer a translation, the English version prevails.

2. The short version

  • You can use the Site without creating an account.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We show ads from Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads. You can choose what you allow (see section 6).
  • If you email us, we use your email only to reply.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Hosting and security (Cloudflare)

The Site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the Site, protect it from abuse, and keep it working. Cloudflare may also obfuscate email addresses on our pages to protect them from spam bots.

Legal basis (EU/UK): our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

3.2 Privacy-friendly statistics (Plausible)

We count visits with a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not store your IP address or any identifier that follows you across sites. We only see totals such as page views, referring sites, country, and device type, plus simple counts of which hint levels are opened.

Legal basis (EU/UK): legitimate interest in understanding how the Site is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

3.3 Google Analytics 4 (only with your consent where required)

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device information. IP addresses are not logged or stored by Google Analytics 4. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, Google Analytics does not collect this data until you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time (see section 6).

Legal basis (EU/UK): your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

3.4 Microsoft Clarity (only with your consent where required)

We use Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Corporation, to see how visitors interact with pages (for example clicks, scrolling, and anonymized session replays) so we can fix confusing parts of the Site. Clarity uses cookies. Text you type into forms is masked. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, Clarity does not collect this data until you consent. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Legal basis (EU/UK): your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

3.5 Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, a consent message (powered by Google's consent management platform) asks for your choices before personalized ads are shown. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which use cookies for frequency capping and fraud prevention.

Learn more: How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings.

Legal basis (EU/UK): your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for personalized ads; legitimate interest for non-personalized ads.

3.6 Settings saved on your device

We save your last chosen difficulty (Easy, Medium, or Hard) in your browser's local storage so the Site opens on it next time. This data stays on your device. Which hints you have opened is not saved. You can delete it by clearing your browser's site data.

3.7 When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use them only to reply and delete them when they are no longer needed, usually within 12 months.

Legal basis (EU/UK): legitimate interest in answering your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

4. Cookies

Which cookies we use, and how to change your choices, is explained in our Cookie Policy.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers named above, and only as needed for the purposes described. We do not sell your personal information. Some of these providers are located in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EU/UK, the providers rely on safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Change your consent: visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland can change or withdraw their choices at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" option shown by Google's consent tool on the Site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • EU, EEA, UK, and Swiss residents: you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
  • California residents: you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Ad cookies from Google may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out of personalized ads in Google Ad Settings or by emailing us.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

7. How long we keep data

  • Server and security logs at Cloudflare: kept by Cloudflare for a limited period under its own policies.
  • Plausible statistics: aggregated totals only, kept while the Site exists.
  • Google Analytics data: 14 months.
  • Emails: usually up to 12 months after the conversation ends.

8. Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Site or the services we use change. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
